Default Adding PDFs. Is it feasible? - 03-18-2007 , 10:21 AM

Dear all,
For those that use FMP for sometime I would like to ask if the
following is possible and efficient (i.e. it works well).
I have thousand of pdf files, sparse here and there without much
order.
I would like to use FMP to make a database to keep record of them and
*to archive within FMP the actual pdf files* too.
I guess that the database will grow to some Gigabytes (This is the
size taken now in Expl. Resources by the pdfs).

Will the end result work efficiently? Or will not work well?

In the latter case, I suppose that the way to go is to make references
to my files. But what happens if I move the files? And what about if
the letter drive of where the files are stored changes? Is it a way to
make relative references?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
AQ

Hey there AQ,

You should check out a product called DevonThink (only for the mac) - you
can import PDFs into its database and they become seachable. So you can
categorize your PDF very easily. Devon also has artificial inteligence
that will cateorize the PDFs for you. There's a learning curve, but once
you get into it - it's brilliant.
