Default ActiveX Automation - 11-13-2006 , 04:19 AM

FM 8.5 adv, XP

I know you guys can't help me, but just to vent some frustration. I have
been looking into ways of interacting actively from outside filemaker. Like
returning text from shell, or from an other application. I thought I try
ActiveX, but I am disappointed in what it offers. No way I can change an
active layout, or set a value into a field. Yes I know I can use sendkeys,
but this is not very reliable, since the dataflow can be disrupted, The only
really active thing I see is the firing of a script.

Now I know I can use the import and webfunctionality and then filter the
result in Filemaker, but this seems so cumbersome in comparison to a direct
way of controling. Well this was my rant. Like I said, I don't expect a
solution. I will look further in to WebViewer imports etc.

I agree. We could do a lot with a decent ActiveX Object.
