Has anyone successfully enabled Network Sharing on a Mac under 8.5? I can share DBs between Macs under 8.0 without any problems. When I open a DB under 8.5 and try to share the client ALWAYS gets the error message "exceeded host capacity" even though only 1 DB is open. I've tried all sorts of combinations of Macs and DBs and can never get 8.5 to successfully host a DB, although there are no problems with the identical setup under 8.0. Is there some new setting somewhere in 8.5 which needs to be enabled? |

Are you opening your unique DB from another Mac on the network through the Open / HOST button ? It is the only regular and safe way to open 'shared' files. As often said here, FileMaker has its own way of sharing files that could - that will - enter in conflict with the OS sharing mechanism. If you do so already, then I didn't understand your question nor your problem. Don't know any HOST button. Do you mean Open Remote? Here's the problem. Open DB on Mac A. Use FileMaker Pro:Sharing:Network Sharing to turn on TCP/IP sharing for DB. Then go to Mac B and select File:Open Remote. Can see host computer and file name, but when selected to open I get the message "host exceeds capacity" and therefore cannot open DB from Mac B. If running 8.0, no problem on either Mac. If running 8.5 I always get the error message. Problem exists both ways with either Mac hosting and other as client. Also, when I open a DB which had been shared I get a message that DB cannot be shared because sharing is not turned on. This seems strange and implies there is something buried in the DB which says it had been shared previously.
