I've got a pretty simple solution in FM6, 4 related databases, a few
scripts, nothing too complicated. Is there a simple way to migrate
these 4 related databases to FM7? I've converted the 4 files to FP7
and can't figure out how to combine them into one file. Do I have to
re-define all my fields? Recreate all my layouts? What's the deal?

Unless you want to fork over $200 for FMRobot (nmci.com), the deal is
manual labor.

If you convert the four related .fp5 (FM6) files to FMP 7 all at once,
by dragging them all to the FMP 7 logo, it will convert them all with
all their relationships intact. The solution should then work pretty
much as it did in FMP 6. It is that easy, and this kind of simultaneous
conversion to separate but related .fp7 files is what you should
normally do first.

After you have the solution working properly in FMP 7 with separate
files, you can alter the solution to put multiple tables in one file, if
you wish. There are some advantages to doing this. it takes a bit of
work. You need to define the additional tables, with all their fields,
and define the relationships. You also need to build the layouts and
scripts associated with those tables. After you get the modified
solution working, you can import the data from the separate tables.

I have done this for several different solutions of varying complexity.
it takes some time and care. You may find you can do things in FMP 7
that you could not do in FMP 6, and can simplify the design in
significant ways.

There are some white papers on the Filemaker web site about solution
conversion and migration. They are worth reading.
