All: From W2K3 Server SP2, we script a nightly backup that reaches out and touches a NetWare 3.12 server running btrieve. The problem is we're not getting reliable backups using XCOPY and bkutil .lock . We map a drive to the btrieve folder and before we run xcopy we lock the db but oft times the BTR files are different sizes on the Windows server and sometimes the fiel count is different, not all the files are copied, altho' we're logging each and every copy. I suspect the MS CSNW is the culprit and plan to move the backup script to a Win9x box runing the Novell Client32, but before I do that ... any suggestions? For tonights backup, I will run 3 bkutil locks with a few seconds delay. As I said, sometimes we appear to get all the BTR files, but not every night. all the best. |
