Default W32MKDE cannot be opened after last Microsoft update - 08-24-2006 , 02:57 AM

We use w32mkde.exe in Version 6.15 for our Easyarchiv Software. The
software is installed on W2000 Terminalserver with SP4.
Since last week we could not open our archivsoftware. Every time we
want to open it we see the process in the tasklist than for a short
time the w32mkde process and at least a drwtsn process. The w32mkde and
drwtsn disappears and the softwareprocess (ezcbdf32.exe) ist still
remaining but the application does not open.
We are sure that is depends on the last MS Updates because other TS
Server with an elder update level are not affected.

Does anyone have the same problem?

Gerhard

Btrieve 6.15 is an ancient version, and I've seen lots of problems like
this with newer OSses. You should really consider upgrading to Pervasive
PSQL v9.

When one has an unlimited distribution license for 6.15, and it works, why?

I've seen the later versions, and it's got nice, new features, and it's
faster, but it costs money.

I realize that they can't continue to worry about older versions as far as
compatibility goes, but it would be nice to know of potential "bumps" in the
road like this to avoid.

Why? Well, the main reason is, as you said, it's not working any more.

The most amazing thing is, a 12-year-old product has now just broken
for you, in spite of at least 5 O/S upgrades. Oh, and Pervasive has
been warning of such potential "bumps" since the end of the last
millenium. I don't see how one can expect much more.

The latest version of the Workgroup Engine costs $25, plus shipping.
You can save on the shipping if you buy it in 10-license packs.
