Timberline without Power User Rights -

I hate granting privileges to users because application vendors are too lazy
to test their programs properly and set the appropriate permissions
themselves when their installation programs run. Here's how I got Timberline
to run on Windows XP without granting Power User privileges to every user:
For the "Users" group, change the permissions on the following files and
folders to "Modify"
C:\Program Files\Common Files\ODBC
C:\Program Files\Timberline Office\Accounting\ts.ini
For the "Users" group, change the permissions on the following registry keys
to add permissions to "Set Value," "Create Subkey," and "Delete"
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Timberline
This procedure must be performed on each workstation on which Timberline is
to be run.
If anyone knows of anything else that needs to be done, please reply to this
group. |
