Default Stuck at Smithware ActiveX controls 3.1 build 2 - 06-09-2005 , 02:29 PM

Managed to get past my Btrieve 6.15 status 96's by either locating the
correct current version or upping the communications buffer, but now I have
a new problem.

Installed Smithware's controls version 3.0, then 3.1 update, thought I was
done, everything compiled and ran... however, went to do additional code and
noticed that a lot of properties in the data control that I was used to
using were suddenly missing, specifically the .TotalRecords property!

Searched my hard drive for further updates (as well as the net), and found a
zip file I had downloaded years ago that contained 3.1 build 7, whereas my
current one is apparently build 2.

There were no installation instructions, just OCX files, and a readme that
only mentioned changes. I did manage to find Scott Smith's archived web
site, which listed the file I downloaded, but apparently the download link
is dead.

I believe it said to rename old OCX's and regsvr32 the new ones. When I do
that, it completely FUBAR's my system. VB refuses to load my forms, with
license issues. Unregistering and re-registering the older versions doesn't
even work at that point! I have to uninstall, and completely re-install
versions 3.0 and 3.1 to get back to a working version again.

Is this a Win XP vs. 2000 issue? It was working fine on my 2000 machine.

As always, any and all help greatly appreciated.
