Hello, I have the following scenario: Machine 1: Windows 2003 Server with IIS in a workgroup (No Active Directory), Web application in ASP, Pervasive SQL Workgroup 8.7, Novell Netware Client 4.9 Machine 2: Novell Netware 5.0, Pervasive SQL 8.1 Server and Several database files The 2003 Server runs a web application in IIS that uses a ActiveX COM object through ASP, the ActiveX calls btrieve functions and returns data to the ASP, the data is in the remote Novell Netware with Pervasive SQL 8.1 server, the files are opened through a UNC path because inside IIS the mapped drives don't work, and the IIS is using a normal user instead of the IUSR_MACHINENAME, the user is also created in Novell with all access to the directory of the database files. The problem is that a btrieve open operation takes more than 14 seconds to complete, that problem doesn't occur outside IIS using for example the wbexec32.exe to open the same database files. Any thoughts on that is the problem? Best Regards, Mike |

A few things to try: 1) Try upgrading the engine and client. PSQLv8.1 is pretty old -- I'd take it all the way to PSQLV8.7. 2) The NetWare Client 4.9 can be flaky -- try scaling it back to 4.8x and see if that helps. 3) Can you get a network trace of the problem? It could be something simple like DNS resolution taking a long time... |
