Btrieve is owned by Pervasive at www.pervasive.com. You can download
their trial version of V8 at www.pervasive.com/downloads. Once you
get Pervasive Btrieve V8 installed then you can move on to the next
step. If you have DDF files then you can create your ODBC connections
and then use Access to connect to your data. If you do not have the
DDF files then you will have to either get them from the original
program vendor or you can build them with BtSearch. You can also use
BtSearch to export your data to dbase or ascii.

Hi,

I have the same problems:
I have 30 odd *.DAT and would like to get export the data. I have no clue
on how to do this even after looking over this group for tips. Can some one
give me a structured way of getting this task done.

I have a app. which give me Index/File/Field info it also has a Btrieve
option when started W32MKDE.EXE (ver. 2.0.430.1) is initiated. I am not
good with ODBC links and only get there by trial and error. I would if
possible like to use Access as a DB thus VB/VBA to extract the *.Dat in to
Access. The tips i have looked at and tried seem to fail ie. Btsearch etc
with wrong vers. error this and so on. I have been up and down the net
and www.nssdd.com looking for a structured way of getting started and find
only bits and pieces.

I have all the things i need (i think) ie. structures
How do i get the DDF's (as readable Db) in to Access.
Do i then just SQL from Access to the *.dat

I would appriciate some help as to how to do it or where to find good docs.

Thanks out there and hope you understand my problem.....! Getting a bit
Pd-Off

David
