If you need to create the DDF files for your btrieve file you can take a look at BtSearch at www.nssdd.com. It helps you analyze the structure and build the DDF files. Once built it will export to dbase or ascii formats. Gil "Rafael Alonso" <rafael (AT) 3emeta (DOT) com> wrote A client has given me files named .DAT and says that they have been done with BTrieve. How and with which product Could I import the information? Thx a lot Hi, I have a the same problem and require help....! I have a application which gives me Index/File/Field DDF's. It also has a option Btrieve witch i think/thought would output the Data from the *.Dat files so i could the use whatever (Excel/Access). After reading through this Btrieve Group i gather i have to use Sql to link everthing? The tips/downloads (www.nssdd.com)for diverse tools to check data and so on i > have done but to little avail. Either ODBC fails or is not the right version, > differences and so on. I would appriciate if you or someone out there can give me a structured way to get me going. My aim is to get the data out of some 30 *.DAT files and use these for my own statistical purposes. I have programming knowlegde in various languages but would like to use VB/VBA My ODBC/Engine knowledge is limited, how do i 1)setting/linking/importing to Access or VB to get *.Txt/CSV file 2)do i use a MS eingine or some other, when i start the Btrive option from the application W32MKDE.EXE (vers. 2.0.430.1) is started I would appriciate all help you can supply Thanks David |
