Default PSQL V8.5 install pre-requisites - 07-01-2004 , 10:10 AM

Hi!

As I'm still having problems betting OLE DB working on PSQL V8.5 on
a Netware server I want to check I did the install properly...

I installed P.SQL V8 and then P.SQL V8.5.

Does any one know if I should have installed P.SQL V8 SP1 before V8.5?

Looking at the V8.5 README I can't see any pre-requisites listed.

TIA,
Guy

Neither 8.0 or 8.1 install is required before 8.5.

Are there any more details on how it fails or an error mesage or
status code?

I did see something regarding a Status 11 to a Novell server if long
filenames are not enabled.

Thanks. That's worth knowing!

It's the same on going problem I've posted about in the threads titled

P.SQL V8.5 - turning off security
Is there a P.SQL V8.5 OLE DB client library?
P.SQL V8.5 - no DefaultDB

and have had some useful responses from Gordon and Bill Bach.

Unfortunatly I'm still not able to get P.SQL V8.5 OLE DB working
between a Win2K client and a Netware 5.1 server.

After creating the missing DefaultDB and making sure all the security
settings are off (except Prompt for Client Credentials) I still can't
make a sucessfull OLE DB connection. I always get prompted to enter
the client credentials but since all the security is turned off I
don't understany why I'm prompted. Surely if security is off there
is no need for client credentials and I should not get prompted.

If I do cancel the prompt box or enter some credentials I either get
back error 170 or 171 which are

170 Database login required
171 Database login failed

Later today I'm going to print out all the applicable documentation
and make a work list of things that need to be set and how they
need to be set to make sure a database login is not needed.

They were enabled years ago!
