Default psql 2000i WGE and Win2003 server setup question - 03-06-2006 , 07:27 PM

Hi All,
I have a user who owns a psql 2000i Work Group Engine (SP3) running a
three user Point Of Sale application that uses ActiveX. He has XP Pro
clients, but wants to locate his data on the win2k3 server.
Can the WGE be run as a service, or should he try to locate a copy of
2000i server?
Can anyone reccomend an efficient way to run the WGE on the server?

The WGE can be run as a service. I would probably use SP4 insead of
SP3. Doing both of those should help reliability. Do keep in mind
that the WGE run as a service is still the WGE not a server engine.

There is a utility to make installing the WGE as a service simpler.

Just extract it to the \pvsw\bin folder and run it. Under the Tools
menu there is WGE as Service option. Pretty straightforward.
