Default problem with butil - 02-12-2009 , 11:00 AM

Hi,

on a cluster-server Win2003 Server R2 SP2 running PSQL 8.60.192.030 we
tried to use

butil -startbu @filelist.txt

to enable COM on several btrieve-files.

We get the folloeing error

BUTIL-14: The file that caused the error is
D:\TESTPROJEKTE32\TEST\DATS\ACSVIRT.DAT.
BUTIL-100: MicroKernel error = 170. Authentication failed due to a
wrong or missing user name.

(D:\TESTPROJEKTE32\TEST\DATS\ACSVIRT.DAT: is the first file named in
filelist.txt, and D:\TESTPROJEKTE32\TEST\DATS\ACSVIRT.DAT exists, is
an btrieve-file (Ver8) and one can open that file regular with the
btr-API.

The btrieve-Database is also registered as a SQL-Database to PSQL: the
PSQL-DB is called "sqltest"): (the btriefe files are incorerated via
create table ... using "...").
If in thes PSQL-DB has security enabled and we use the voomand

butil -startbu @filelist.txt /UIDusername /PWDpasswd /DBsqltest

with korrect psssswd amd username we got the same error 170.

If we disable DB security: the same error 170 occur.

(of course we run butil with local admin-rights).

Do you knoe this problem, and if so: do you know a solution?

Is this eventually known to be happen in 8.6?
(we dont observe the problem with PSQL 9.x).

Regards
Mircea

This is a known issue:
The defect is CR 51936 and is checked into v8.60.ftf , v8.70, and
v9.01 build trees.

Patch to PSQLv8.70 and you should not see it again.

If you cannot patch right away, just reboot the server and it'll be fine
for a while again.
