Default Pervasive.SQL and BusinessVision - 10-26-2006 , 02:08 PM

Hi,
I am using PervasiveSQL (version 8.6, I believe) with BusinessVision 7.
I would like to view the BusinessVision tables in Pervasive.
The problem I am encountering is that Pervasive does not automatically
read the the BusinessVision data tables (but I don't know if it is
supposed to). When I create a pervasive database in the same folder as
the BusinessVision, Pervasive does not read the existing tables. The
only way to get the BusinessVision data into Pervasive appears to be
importing each table one at a time, and I am not even sure if it
creates a new table with the imported data and structure, or if it just
reads the existing tables. Does anyone know how to easily view
BusinessVision in Pervasive?

Thanks in advance!

I am assuming that the Pervasive Control Center is allowing you to get
in, but shows no tables in the database, right? If so, then you don't
have the DDF's in the right location.

Copy the BusinessVision DDF's into the directory where you created the
database, and all the files should appear.

Of course, some application developers do not provide DDF's with their
app. If you do NOT have populated DDF's, you will need to get them
from the developer.

Hi Bill,
Thanks! That tip lead me in the right direction. I eventually found an
installer that installed DDFs.

....And for the other BusinessVision users/developers who need to get
the BV tables in Pervasive: There's a folder named "DDF" on the install
CD (although I installed off a network folder). In there is an
installer for installing DDF files. It will install them in to
"$PATH_TO_BV/Reports/Report_Designer/". I then *copied* these DDFs to
the same folder as the BV data. I created a Pervasive database in this
folder, it read the DDF's and everything worked!
