Hello,

I have a Pervasive SQL 2000i SP4 installation on a W2K SP4 server, and
when i start the monitor program it freezes and is only showing the
following information : "Querying status from Pervasive.SQL 2000
relational service".

I have already removed and reinstalled the Pervasive SQL 2000i SP4
installatio, but that didn't help anything.

Does anybody has a solution for this?

Are you running the Server Engine or the Workgroup/Workstation Engine?

There are two items I have found:

ID: psql1825 - Monitor appear to hang connecting to a remote engine
Description: Monitor appear to hang connecting to a remote engine
The Pervasive.SQL 2000 monitor may appear to hang at the screen
"Connecting to Remote Server" when connecting to a NetWare
Pervasive.SQL engine
Ctrl-Alt-Del from the client may show the monitor "Not Responding"
Environment: Pervasive.SQL 2000 NetWare, Microsoft Windows 9.x,
Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, psql1825
You may also receive a "Querying status from Pervasive.SQL 2000
relational service, please wait" message.
Cause: The Pervasive.SQL ODBC Engine is not loaded. The monitor is
querying the server for all possible Pervasive.SQL 2000 engines.
Solution: The monitor will eventually connect but may take several
minutes. To eliminate the slow connection in the future, replace the
BSTART line in the AUTOEXEC.NCF with MGRSTART to properly load the ODBC
engine. If the customer does not wish to load the ODBC engine, he
should be aware of the fact the connection may take some time.
Note: You may also receive a "Querying status from Pervasive.SQL 2000
relational service, please wait" message.

Btrieve layer works. PCC works. When running Monitor at the server,
the screen shows "Querying status from Pervasive.SQL 2000 Relational
service, please wait...", then hangs.
Solution: There is an NSL FTF that addresses this issue.


I do not know if this patch is publicly available on Pervasive's site.
However, you may be able to get this FTF update locally from Q-ry
(www.q-ry.nl). If not, then upgrading may be in the cards...
