Pervasive to CSV Syncronization/Export Program -

To DBA's managing Pervasive and other database engines:
Goldstar Software has begun work on a new data synchronization tool
that will provide the ability to export data records using native
Btrieve calls and dump the data to either UNF or CSV files.
More than just a simple export tool, this tool will also track the data
records extracted and provide for an incremental extract -- resulting
in what would essentially be the first half of a data synchronization
tool. When coupled with the export to CSV, this can then result in a
way to synchronize a Pervasive database with just about any other
database out there.
Upcoming iterations of the synchronization portion of this tool will
allow for exporting changed data based on our own metadata format,
leveraging the Pervasive DataExchange metadata format (PDC tables), and
possibly leveraging Pervasive Archive Log metadata.
Upcoming iterations of the export portion of the tool will allow for
exporting to a modified UNF format (containing sync-related data), a
full CSV format, and a proprietary "delta" format for time-dependent
synchronization (i.e. Archive Logs), with the eventual goal of
specifying a target table via ODBC for a direct-to-any-database
replication.
We are looking to start a discussion thread that comments on this
proposed solution, looking for ideas to include in the design, pitfalls
to avoid, and other such comments.
Users with export or synchronization needs who would be willing to test
early versions of the application are also needed.
Feel free to post here or contact me directly.
