Default Pervasive-to-Any Replication: Testers Wanted - 01-05-2009 , 06:22 PM

Are you interested in testing a replication solution that replicates
data from Pervasive databases to any other database solution?

Goldstar Software is trying to find alpha testers interested in trying
out our new GSSync tool and assisting with the process of building test
cases. If you are interested, please contact
Support (AT) goldstarsoftware (DOT) com. A brief overview of GSSync follows.

GSSync Overview: This 32-bit command line tool is designed to replicate
data from Pervasive databases to other data targets, leveraging metadata
for efficient processing of changes only.

Metadata Types: GSSync can leverage three different types of metadata,
including PDC files (created and maintained by DataExchange for larger
databases), Archive Log Files (created by the engine and maintained
manually), or our own proprietary metadata format (useful for smaller
databases). This metadata is used to detect database changes and to
cause the change to be replicated to the target.

Target Types: Currently, GSSync can export data to Btrieve-based UNF
files (for rapid loading of newly inserted data into a target Pervasive
database with BUTIL or DXUTIL), to comma-delimited text files (CSV) for
use with Excel or other import tools, and to XML files in two different
layouts. GSSync can also generate a SQL script file that can be used to
import the changes into any target database (using a command-line tool
like PVDDL or SQLEXEC), great for replicating to a SQL database across a
low-speed link. When completed, it will also have the ability to
execute the SQL statements directly against any available ODBC data source.

Sites Needed: We are actively looking for companies with a need for a
cross-platform replication solution (with Pervasive as a source). Ideal
sites would also be running DataExchange for the metadata collection.
(30-day trials of DX are available, of course, and we can provide
discounted licenses where appropriate.) Also important are sites sing a
wide variety of data types that would be interested in exploring the
various program options to help discern any flaws in the output.
