Default P.SQL V8.5 - no DefaultDB - 06-23-2004 , 08:37 AM

Continuing on with my problem turning security off on P.SQL V8.5 I
decided to reinstall P.SQL V8 and P.SQL V8.50

First, I used PSA V 8.50 to uninstall all P.SQL/btrieve programs from
the server and rebooted. I had to delete BTI.CFG manually as this
stopped the P.SQL V8 install.

I installed P.SQL V8 and rebooted the server.
I installed P.SQL V8.50 and rebooted the server.

I can access databases using the Control Centre and the SQL Data Manager
but I still can't connect using OLE DB.

Checking in the list of databases in the Control Centre, I still don't
have a database called DefaultDB.

Is there a way to create this after the installation of P.SQL V8.50?

I've installed a V8 (8.5) Workstation engine from the developer part
of the Pervasive WWW site.

Running with the workstation engine I now have the DEMODATA and DefaultDB
databases. I can connect to them using the Pervasive.SQL V8 OLE DB Provider
and they work as expected. The classic security model is selected
in DNAMES and database security is off. I'm not prompted for a login.

I've created a DefaultDB on the netware server after looking at the
settings for the DefaultDB created when I installed the workstation
engine.

However, I still can't connect to the database on the Netware server
using the Pervasive.SQL V8 OLE BD Provider without getting a login box
even though the Classic security model (in DNAMES) and the database has
security disabled.

If I create an ODBC DSN for the database on the Novell server using
the Pervasive ODBC driver and then create a connection using the
Microsoft OLD DB provider for ODBC then I can connect to the database
and use it as I'd expect to. I just can't do this by using the
Pervasive.SQL V8 OLE DB provider from the workstation to the Netware
server.
