Default P-SQL 9 does not write to Btrieve 5 files - 12-03-2005 , 05:46 AM

Hello,

we have here a very historical environment:
* No server engine, only workstation engines
* Partionally DOS PCs with local Btrieve 5 (btrieve.exe) engine.

Until P-SQL 8 everything was fine. All different PCs could read form and
write to Btrieve 5 files.
With P-SQL 9 reading from Btrieve 5 files ist ok but no writing is done.
No Btrieve error but the data record is not added to the file.

Can somebody give me a hint?

Axel

This one is easy -- Pervasive PSQL v9 does *NOT* support writing to 5.x
files. If you are using the PSQLv9 engine, you must upgrade the file
format to 6.x or higher. This will also provide a stability and
performance improvement at the same time.

Obviously, the new file formats are NOT directly readable by Btrieve
5.x engines, so you should upgrade your DOS PC's to use a DOS requester
to the server engine.
