I'm new with btrieve technology and i've got a problem with an old dos
program.

it works with btrieve 5 when i put this program on a w2000 server but
it's so slow because if i inderstood well, it depends on the power of
the client station. The clients are quite slow and i heard about
brequest. It seems interesting because it will use the power of the
server.

Then i have some questions :

- which versions of brequest can i use on this server?
- are there any special configuration?

I'm nearly sure that brequest wont work well on w2k server (inst it a novell
app), what clients do you have? Are they w95/w98, if so run pervasive with
btrieve for dos support

Both of those would require the current version of Btrieve which is
part of the Pervasive.SQL database product.

Pick Life is correct in that the brequest.exe DOS Btrieve API
requester is for Novell servers only.
There is a breqnt.exe DOS requester that as the name suggests works to
Windows servers running the server version of the Pervasive product.
There is a 'catch' as it uses SPX which few networks are configured
for these days.
You can also use the breqtcp.exe DOS requester. As the name suggests
it does use TCP. It is a pain to configure and runs slowly under
certain configurations.

The Btrieve DOS application support box is the recommended solution.
