Default Moving Btrieve 6 DB to W2k - 11-07-2004 , 12:46 PM

Does anyone know if a Btrieve 6 DB on Netware 5 can be moved over to a
Windows 2K Server (using any version of Btrieve), and assuming it can be
done, what possible conflicts there are with running Btrieve and SQL Server
on the same box?

Thanks in advance.

We have several sites running Pervasive.SQL V8.6 (the current version) on
Windows 2000 Server, running alongside SQLServer. The biggest problem with
this config is that when SQLServer is running queries, it can suck up all
available CPU time and lots of memory.

Do the old applications that were written to access the Btrieve v6 server
work seamlessly with the new Pervasive.SQL v8 server? That is, are is
Pervasive.SQL v8 backwards compatible with applications written for Btrieve
v6?

99% of Btrieve applications work perfectly on PSQLV8. The only problems are
those that took advantage of bugs in the older engines, like the V5
applications that don't put a null/space terminator on the file name. However,
there are usually workarounds, even for these problems.
