Default Momentary Hang - P.SQL2000i + DACEasy-12 Accounting - 12-07-2004 , 07:21 PM

DAC 12 is suddenly giving us brief lag time, or momentary hang
problems. Random occurrence, not repeatable. Lookups or transactions
all of a sudden freeze, and DAC screen blanks in sections (where entry
field or window should have changed/popped). Releases within 60
seconds, and screen paints properly when data field filled. It occurs
with one user or multiple users, several times a day.

We run client-server mode with primary server performing PSQL gateway
functions. It has been running fine for 1.5 years

We have run all file utilities in DAC [recover, verify, drop indexes],
and run Diskeeper server monthly. Manually reboot NT server at least
every other month [rebooted several times recently]. Wkstns are logged
out and shut down overnight.

SERVER: Compaq Prosignia200, RAID5 data drives
O/S: NT4, SP6
Btrv: P.SQL2000i, SP4 (running as a service)
setup as permanent Gateway
Other: NW SAV-9 Corp Anti-Virus [all DB & Btrv execs excluded]

WKSTNS: Compaq PWS AP550
O/S: W2k, SP4
Btrv: P.SQL200i, SP3 (runtime only)

NETWORK: HP2524 managed switch
all NIC run 100 base, full duplex

DIAGS: Compaq Insight Mgr - set traps to watch for peak CUP
utilization. Very few spikes, each coincides with loading apps on local
console, not the DAC hangs.

Pervasive Monitor shows no peak usage or over usage.

I tried reinstalling P.SQL on the server, no fix.

Database files are as large as 175 mb. DAC confirms no file size
limitation.

Minimal load on system - 6 concurrent users in DAC max, 3 on average.
ANY THOUGHTS or DIAG TOOLS?
