Default Migrating Maximizer97 databas - 11-29-2006 , 08:24 AM

Hi!

I was asked to find if it's possible to quite swifftly migrate
Maximiser97 database to Access/SQL.
I've read many links, newsgroups and support documents and still, I
haven't progressed much.
I understand the idea of a separate dictionary file and separate data
file.

Now what I've managed to inspect on the PC where Maximiser is
installed:

Data is stored in 5 files:
MXZM.MAX
MXZU.MAX
MXZS.MAX
MXZF.MAX
MXZC.MAX

and is maintained by W32MKDE.EXE - Microkernel Database Engine (ver.
6.15.430 which looks very much like BTrieve version).

One of DLLs also carries version number 2.0.430.1

Now - has any of yuo had this problem or knows the solution? How to
make this migration possible?

regards,
Morris

Try and locate the DDF files. These include the file.ddf, field.ddf
and index.ddf. These will be required to extract the data. If you do
not have them and need to build these you can download BtSearch at
www.nssdd.com. It allows you to analyze and build the DDF files
afterwhich it will export out to CSV or other formats.

Hey Gil,

No DDF files I'm afraid.. I've got BtSearch , just not sure how to use
it.. I try to tinker with it, but where should I start?

There is a video of the process in the support page within the site.
Or you can email me directly for any other questions.

Thanks,
Gil
