I would like to set up a Linked Server in my SQL Server to access an
accounting database running in P.SQL V9. Reading over the posts here I
conclude that the KB articles on the Pervasive site are outdated, and
that the OLE DB driver should work these days. Is this correct? I hope
it is, because the tables I need to access are very large and indexes
are an absolute requirement (in fact, it's the ODBC performance
problem I'm trying to fix).

If the OLE DB provider does work, can anyone offer guidance on the
setup? It _appears_ that the various input boxes in the Linked Server
setup in SQL Server Enterprise Manager are almost entirely optional,
with each provider picking which ones they want to use. However, I
cannot find anything in the P.SQL documentation that tells me which
ones THEY use. So I tried...

Linked server (name) "DEMODATA"
Provider name (driver?) "Pervasive.SQL V9 OLD DB Provider"
Product name (what?!) left blank
Data source (server DSN?) "DEMODATA"
Provider string left blank
Location "server116"
Catalog "DEMODATA"

When I click OK, a new Linked Server appears - so far so good. Now I
click on the Tables icon within, and get "Error 7399" with a bunch of
hex codes that turn up absolutely nothing useful on the 'net.

To be honest though, I really don't have any ideas what I am supposed
to be putting into the various fields. Does anyone have a working
connection to their DEMODATA? If so, what did you put into these
fields?
