Default JCL and Btrieve - 10-17-2006 , 08:53 AM

Hi all
I have Btrieve version 5.10a and not Pervasive PSQL .
I want to use JCL to work with my data stored in some dat files.
Is it possible?or JCL works just with Pervasive PSQL?
At this point I want to know registry entries PSQL 9 adds about where
it is installed.
Because as you know JCL searches there for jnibtrv.dll.
Any thing is really appreciated.

Most of the registry settings go into HKLM\Software\Pervasive Software.
Some, those that are user specific, will go into
HKCU\Software\Pervasive Software.

The install also places the C:\PVSW\BIN directory in the path
statement, and adds a number of items into CLASSPATH.

As you know I don't have PSQL9.

The Java interface is only supported on newer engines, probably from
PSQL2000i onward. With 5.10a, you won't get anything working, since
this will either be a DOS or Win16 engine.

However, if you upgrade to a newer engine, you can continue to run DOS
and Win16 applications originally written for Btrieve 5.10a through the
excellent backward-compatibility capabilities of the database engine.
