Default DBU Access denied ... NOT in Terminal Server! - 11-06-2006 , 12:12 PM

Hi,

on trying to add a license update to a P.SQL 9.1 Server installation
with P.SQL Data Exchange running I get the "DBU access denied" error.
I know that this error will be raised when trying to do this in a
terminal server session, but this happens directly at the console. I
have searched the net for information but haven't come with anything
usefull yet. Can this have to do with the DX Engine also active?

Any input is highly appreciated,

Jens

Hi Jens,

I have not run into this problem but I would say that it is possible
that the DX Engine being active may cause a conflict because the DX
Engine licensing is dependent upon the Server licensing.

Stopping the DX Engine while adding the license increase would be a
good idea.

This might help...

ID: psql5797 - I get the error "DBU Access Denied" when I attempt to
add a license with the License Administrator.
Description: I get the error "DBU Access Denied" when I attempt to add
a license with the License Administrator.
Environment: Pervasive.SQL V8.5, Pervasive.SQL V8, Microsoft Windows
Server
Cause: This error is caused when you are connected to the server via a
Windows Terminal Server session.
Solution: The recommended method is to apply user count licenses at the
server console, not from a remote session.

Update: One user complained of this problem on PSQLv9.1 from the trial,
and swore that they were logged in as Administrator directly on the
server. A valid workaround was to run the License Administrator on a
workstation, connect to the server engine remotely with the
Administrator login, and apply the key from there. This worked.

Wayne, Bill, thank you for helping.
It turns out that restarting the server and trying again at the console
did resolve this issue.

Thanks again
Jens
