Default DAT files - 11-02-2004 , 01:27 AM

I have a netware 3.12 system with Btrieve which only be up once or twice per
year.

Now the server cannot turn up due to harware failure.

Can i convert its Btrieve dat files into Excel or Access format by any
application?

Thanks a lot.

You will need the DDf files to export the data. These include
file.ddf, field.ddf and index.ddf. If you do not have these you might
contact the program vendor or you can try using BtSearch at
www.nssdd.com which can help you analyze the structure and build the
DDF files. It will also export to dbase or ascii formats.

Since it is NW 3.12 I doubt that there is a SQL schema associated with
the data file which would make it easy to convert.

It sounds as though it is for "historical purposes" as such. It might
be easiest to just get a Pervasive.SQL Workgroup engine and continue
to run the application on a Windows machine when needed.
