Default Cannot create query plan file with V8 - 10-03-2004 , 04:31 PM

I am attempting to use the Query Plan Viewer but cannot create the
query plan file. I have created an ODBC System DSN for my database and
added the two string values, QryPlan and QryPlanOutput, as described in
Best Practices for Improving Relational Performance. However, when I
run the query from SQL Data Manager the .QPF file is not created. I
have also tried running the query with the PDAC components and with the
OLE DB Provider for ODBC. Same result. Any suggestions?

Have you tried restarting the server? While older versions were dynamic (I
think), the V8 release must be restarted to see the change.

Test it first by using the PCC. I think the OLEDB driver may be coming in
UNDER the ODBC driver in a way that it may not show up. If this is the
case, you won't be able to see any plans for OLEDB.
