Default Btrieve v6 access via JDBC - 11-13-2004 , 11:40 AM

How do you access Btrieve v6.15 for DOS from either JDBC or ODBC? There's a
legacy application that I need to do some custom reporting from (maybe with
Crystal Reports), and upgrading to Pervasive.SQL v8 would invalidate any
support from the company that sells the app.

Any ideas are much appreciated,
Jeff

You don't. Btrieve for DOS is strictly a DOS application, and will not provide
Windows ODBC support.

Which application are you running?

Hmm... there's no way to access the legacy files as read-only from a WGE,
then via ODBC to the WGE? We want to write some reports against data stored
in Btrieve 6.15 files, without disturbing the application.

For reporting, you can copy the data to a workstation, then use the
Pervasive.SQL V8 Workgroup Engine's ODBC driver to hit the info you need. This
would work just fine, but you would need to periodically copy the data files
over -- don't try to access it in place, as this would confuse the engines.
