Btrieve Status 96 -

I've recently had to migrate my development system from an older computer
running Windows 2000 Pro to a new machine running Windows XP. I seem to
have everything pretty much up and running, except now my applications are
getting sporadic Btrieve Error Code 96 both in the development environment
(VB 6.0 SP 6) and at run-time. A search through google doesn't seem to
provide any workable solutions to this problem. I should mention this is
Btrieve for Win NT/95 6.15. I've search and apparently have the most
current patch of that version of Btrieve. Is this somehow an XP vs. 2000
issue?
The only (temporary) solution seems to be to manually stop the Btrieve
engine (via task manager) and the problem goes away (for a while).
Am I going to finally have to bite the bullet and upgrade to this century's
version of Pervasive? Not that I don't want to, but it means re-testing
everything, and updating clients, a real time consumer at this point in
development.
Any clues greatly appreciated!
