Default BTrieve MAGIC 8 data to MS Access 2003 - 05-12-2006 , 05:42 AM

Hi All

is there any way of getting the data in a btrieve application (Magic 8)
onto Microsoft ACcess 2003? I have the ddf files that are needed, but
cannot get access to read/open the files

Any help as always is highly appreciated.

Which version of Btrieve? If you have Pervasive.SQL 7 or higher,
including Pervasive.SQL 2000i, Pervasive.SQL V8, or Pervasive PSQL v9,
the ODBC drivers you need are installed with the Pervasive client.
With PSQL7 you have to use the ODBC Administrator directly, but with
newer versions, Use the Pervasive Control Center to create a new
database, pointing to the directory that contains your DDF's and data.

Tell Access to use this DSN, and you'll be all set!

Please refer to the product documentation for full details. IN a
nutshell, it is this:
- Open the PCC on the server and Open the server item on the left side.
- Right-Click on Databases and select "New Database".
- Complete the New Database Wizard for the information that is
requested & click Finish when approriate.

- On your workstation, Open the PCC and open the workstation item on
the left side.
- Right-Click "Databases (Client)" and select "New Database"
- Complete the information by specifying the server name and the engine
DSN from the server you created above.
- Click finish, and you're done!

That's it! You can now use the Client DSN from any application,
including MSAccess.
