Default btrieve 6.15 licences? how do I know what I am licenced for? - 05-11-2005 , 08:12 PM

Hi,
wonder if anyone can help.

We're moving a btrieve app (ver 6.15) from one server to another and are
having problems when more than one user is attempting to open the database
at the same time (one works just fine).

Is there a way to tell what we are licensed for on the new server?

thanks for any help!!

Renato.

On a NetWare box, simple type MODULES BTRIEVE.NLM and you should get a
response that tells you the exact Btrieve version and user count.

On Windows, run the database server's Monitor utility, select
Microkernel/Resource Usage, and you will see the number of licenses
shown therein.

The most likely culprit is your share settings in Btrieve.

I believe that by default Btrieve 6.15 installs to use the local engine, and
consequently will open all files in exclusive mode. You'll need to run the
32-bit Btrieve Setup utility to ensure proper settings on the server and/or
workstations.

Although the fact that only can connect would suggest wokstation
engine.

Unless the OS you're installing it on also hasn't had active support
for at least 8 years it's probably going to be an hopeless effort
trying to get it up and running. You might still want to try though if
time is just time to you (most likely not).
