I have an application running Btrieve 6.15. Today I upgraded the DBE to Pervasive v.8.5. Upon the completion of the installation I was prompted for a reboot. While booting up, an error came up stating "Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run Windows or a Windows application. The Windows registry or System.INI file refers to this device file, but the device no longer exists. If you deleted this file on purpose, try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program. C:\PVSW\BIN\BTRBOX95.VXD press any key to continue". Then, when trying to launch the app a st8005 occurred. Any help would be appreciated. This is NOT a DOS application, rather a 16-bit windows app. Should this file be deleted/renamed? |

btrbox95.vxd is only used by DOS applications, The status 8005 is probably not related to the btrbox95 file except that it also normally refers to missing files. It sounds like the install just was not able to put all the files in place. I would uninstall Pervasive, stop anti-virus software (or possibly remove it if it does not stop) then reinstall.
