Default 2000i clients with P9 (Btrieve) Server - 05-10-2007 , 04:52 AM

Will the 2000i clients work? What are the dangers? Will it cause the
data to pop, or will it simply not work?

Thanks

The 2000i clients may work for some applications, but not for others.
For a native Btrieve application, you may be OK, although the PSQL2000i
clients will probably report a client/server version mismatch error
when they connect. SQL applications will probably fail, as there are
different ODBC capabilities in the newer engine. Additionally, running
with a mismatched client is definitely not recommended, as some bug
fixes have been made to the client that you don't want to be without.

Why do you want to use the older client?

Thanks for you help. I have a customer who has migrated to a P9 server,
but has 100s of clients to update. They are just worried that some
clients may try to connect before they have been updated, and that
damage may occur.
