I strongly doubt it. Mainly because I fail to see the point of such

Again I guess no such practices exists. It's rather common the other
way round, though. I.d. Berkely DB is used as the *back* end of at
least one rather popular RDBMS: MySQL. Well, used to. They now
finally made their own optional subsitute backend layer.
