Default Newbie question on Barkeley & Borland C++ builder - 07-01-2005 , 06:20 AM

Hello,

I have a question regarding buidling and using DB Barkeley on Win32. The
discription on the website and docs of Sleepycat Barkeley DB describes
the building under VC++. Can one build it for Borland C++ Builder V6.0?
Can one afterwards use it there?

Please execuse my limited knowledge in this concern.

Thanks in advance,

Al

Hi Al,
The Borland C++ compiler is not a compiler that is supported by
Berkeley DB. I believe others have tried and made some modifications
to get this to run but
I do not have the details on that.

Other options include Visual Studio of course. If you are looking for
a free compiler to use on Windows:

The options are Cygwin, MinGW, and I have heard the Visual Studio
Toolkit 2003. The info on the Visual Studio toolkit is available on
the Microsoft site.
