Default WEB developing with acces to Oracle data base - 01-07-2004 , 03:17 PM

Good day,

I am a Coop student in software engineering and I have to develop 2
WEB applications that will have to get data or consult some Oracle
data base. These applications will be some sort of research site that
allow to display or create some sort of report or presentation with
the retrieved data.

I never had developed WEB thing so I don't know where to begin.

What I have to do now is to search all the potentials tools that I
should use for doing the job and after than, I would be able to check
with the IS department what can I do with that.

So, I would like to know which language should be easy and funny to
use for create a good job. I want to try something new for extend my
experience but I have 4 month for doing the job so I must not lost too
many time. All I need is a way to code a WEB application that can do
what I said at the beginning of the message.

If it can help to answer me, I have some experience en SQL, Oracle
Form builder and JAVA. I had little taste of C and HTML/PHP but it's
far away in my head.

I hope that I am clear.
:-)

Thank you for helping me.

Thank you !

The first link of your search was very cool !
With what I know in Oracle, I think that it will be easy.

Oups, in the time that I was writing this, every things have change!
I suppose this is a welcome to the world of customer dealing in
software projet !

Ok now the structure suggested to me was that we will need 2 WEP
pages. One to consult the data and do the same thing than the first
message(check database and make reports) and the other for capture
data for the databate. But what they want is a database in MS acces
because every body here knows how it work and when I will leave, they
will be able to easily maintaint the system.
I think this is a good idea.
This to is new for me so I like it ;-)

So can a html page easily access a MS access database ??

For the hint you gave me... thank you... you gave me something funny
to try at home ;-)

Another thing, English is not my primary language so if I'm not clear,
tell me ;-)

Thanks
Francis

I am sure that your English is much better than my French (which I assume is
your first language).
You might like to know that there is a difference between 'fun' and 'funny'.
Java may be fun, but I don't think anybody would say that it is funny. Good
luck on your project. You might also get help from www.experts-exchange.com
Mike from the state of the Guvenator.
