Default Are there any Basic Oracle Tutorial website by example? - 04-24-2005 , 01:25 PM

Hi does anyone know where I can find beginner Oracle tutorial website.
With explanation of how to create tables etc so I can use real examples?
Must be very basic since I just started.

Also is there an Oracle 9i with iSQL for win me I can download or a
recommended version that does not use XP 2003 server or win2k server etc?

Thanks for any feed back you can give.

Goodlie,

I'm starting to put together exactly what you're asking for (a newbie
site) but I'm just getting started on it. It's at suite101,
http://www.suite101.com/welcome.cfm/oracle .

Not much there yet. For other sites, just google on "Oracle
tutorial". Sorry I can't recommend more. If you have specific
questions, you can go to http://asktom.oracle.com and search for your
answer.

And as to your last question, I had a version of Oracle run on WinME
at one point. I think it was 8i. I doubt anything newer would work.
If you're familair with Linux, you can get Fedora and run Oracle on
that. But in the windows environement, I would suggest trying to find
a win2000 professional CD on ebay or at a local software shop. 9i and
10g are both very stable on that OS even with as little as 256megs of
ram.

Hope that helps,

Lewis

I would say that the first place to start is with Oracle Documentation.

I understand the the Oracle Library is huge, but first familiarize yourself
with Oracle Concepts from the provided documentation. After that just learn
while doing, as there are so many things you can do with Oracle, that you
need to decide where you want to go with it.

Are you looking to become an administrator or programmer? If you are simply
interested in querying then any SQL book is good.
