Default SAP and Oracle - 06-07-2004 , 08:19 AM

Hi,

Does anybody know if SAP systems are based on Oracle, and if so, is it
exlcusively Oracle ?

Also, can anybody give any details of SAP's development suite, i.e. the tools
that they use in house to develop their own applications. I know that
NetWeaver is the latest technology. I presume this is a Java IDE like
Jbuilder, or Oracle's JDeveloper ? I presume also that they will be using
EJBs, struts etc.. or do they have a RAD to do their development.

Can anybody help.

Thank You

G. Lucas

Hi,

SAP is not designed specially for Oracle Database. It used on DB2, or
other certified databases (even if Oracle Databases are used by more
than 60% of the SAP customers)

For the previous versions, the custom codes was developped on Abap
(SAP's own programming language). But as SAP is becoming a bit more
open with Java Stuff (but Still some Abap), I do not know informtion
about the new IDE (except that there is no chance it could be Oracle
JDevelopper).

Regards,

Olivier
