Default creating "flatg file" - 02-08-2004 , 11:24 AM

I've just been asked to create some "flat files"

being new to this I'm not quite sure how to proceed.

One of these flat files is a straight dump from one table. Another will
require a couple of joins.

How does one create a flat file from Oracle?

thanks

J.

Hello J,

For a start check sqlplus manual and specifically command "spool
<file_name"

And then find a good book on SQL to help you with the joins.

Once you've done all that, go to asktom.oracle.com and download one of
Tom Kyte's data unload utilities. He has variants for PL/SQL, C, Java,
....
