Default Upsizing to MSSQL - 02-04-2004 , 05:16 PM

We have a range of products written in MSAccess (DAO) and are starting to
move them to MSSQL while still maintaining an MSAccess backend version. (And
developing an Intranet front end for some functions).

What do people recommend is the best/easiest way to do it? Linked tables?
Convert to ADP?

What is the easiest way to do security? Currently we use a programmed based
security for users (locking the design using MSAccess security).

If you know of any good resources you can point me towards I'd much
appreciate it.

I really like Microsoft Access Developer's Guide to SQL Server, from
Sams Publishing, by Mary Chipman and Andy Baron. It covers Access
upgrades to SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 7, and Access use with
existingdatabases in those servers.

It has a very good discussion of ADPs vs. mdb databases with linked
tables in SQL Server, and many other topics that I won't try to detail here.

I found it by doing a search on Amazon with SQL Server and Access both
entered in the search box. This looked like one of the best books on
the topic, and suspect that it is.
