Hi eddiec

Have you tried to get the database main window, pressing F11?
Maybe it works and you can finally see the tables.

What version of Access is it? If it's Access97 then I can probably get
into
it for you.

Have you tried creating a new database and attempt to import from the
:locked" one?

hi'y all,

my company has an access database (.mdb) that has been left behind by a
previous programmer. Now, this programmer has locked this database down
hard, when you open the database all you get is a switchboard (menu)
with
options to view various reports and enter data. "Insert" and "Tools" are
missing from the toolbar, in short, there are no buttons or commands
that
will open the actual database. The database opens the same way if you
hold
down the shift key while opening the database.

If you create a new database and go to File, Get External Data, Link
Tables
and try to access the locked database that way the only object that is
available for import from the locked database is the switchboard form.
When
you import this as a table it merely shows the names of the forms that
the
buttons on the switchboard link to.

The programmer has left the company and is not contactable.

Help!

Is there any way to unlock this database and access the tables and
forms???

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

eddiec :-)
