Default POS - Scanner and data aquisition - 11-19-2003 , 09:52 AM

I am looking for a utility that will scan a bar code and drop the upc number
into a field in an access table. Can anyone help. The current device that I
am using on a different system is a metrologic device that "wedges" before
the keyboard. I have looked at TWedge and the only way that I could figure
to use this was on a serial port.

Any help would be very appreciated!!

I'm sure there are other POS devices for both lpt,USB and even
PC_Cards, but what's the problem with the serial port? My experience
is that all you need to do is install the device and scan the barcode,
the active field in a form would then receive whatever was read as if
you typed it in.

I'm not sure I'm understanding what your issue is, HTH.

Sorry, I figured out that the bar code scanner doesn't care what application
is running it just reads the upc and writes it to where ever the cursor is.
I thought I needed a special program.

Disregard the post.

Check out barcode fonts. You may have to pay for these.

I used to work for an outfit that made library automation software, and we
used a barcode font for reading and creating barcodes for library books.

There's quite a few different formats out there, but the most compatible
seems to be a "3 of 9" font. Look it up on Google.
