My new boss came from another state and brought a bunch of stuff from his old job. One was a couple of databases that apparently are linked together. We can open Database A, but Database B apparently has the old job's pathname of Database A hardcoded into it. We get the error message: "\\...pathname.mdb" is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides." Then Access basically doesn't open anything and sits there with a choice of File/Exit and nothing else. We can compact and repair the DB, but that doesn't do anything different. I understand that we somehow need to get into the DB and change the reference to the linked areas - but how do you do that if you can't open it in Access? Can it be done through another program? Why doesn't MS access change the linked references when it moves? Thanks for any leads - J. Koskey |
