Default Linked fields in a form - 07-27-2005 , 07:27 AM

Good Evening,

I am trying to link fields (this is probably the wrong term used).
I have created database with addresses and ID#

Once I enter the surname using a combo box, I need the first name, ID# and
surname to appear in the other fields, how can I make this happen? I get as
far as ' #NAME?' What does this mean?

Please help me???
Thanks
Mel

Mel:
#Name? means that you have a field called that, but it doesn't know
what to put in it.

To do what you want to do let us assume the table is named People

Create a form using the wizard for the People table.
You will see that all the fields are in the Detail section.

In design goto view and click on view header/footer.
You don't care about the footer for this exercise.
Now create a combo box in the header.
You should get the combo box wizard.
The third option is what you want.
Follow the prompts and all will be well.

This will not work correctly if the box is in the detail!!!!
You could put it in the footer but that is seldom done.

Good luck
