Default Date Function problem - 10-10-2003 , 04:53 AM

Hello,
I have created a database that is used by many users in over 30
offices in the world. Suddently I have been informed of a problem that
I really do not know how to fix. My program, developed in Access 97,
has many fields with Date Function and suddenly they don't work. What
I mean is that in these fields instead of the Date Function (it can be
the current date, etc.), a users is simply reading "NAME".
I have checked it's PCs setting. The date is fine as well as the date
formats.
I have noticed this problem on either a standalone PC as well as on a
network. I have talked to the administrator of the network who
confirmed that the PC is working correctly and that there are no
restrictions. I asked to re-install Office but still nothing.

Any Idea?

Sounds a lot like a reference problem. Check the references in the problem
database, see if any are marked "missing". Also, make sure that the PC has
been updated to match the configuration on your development machine re:
MDAC, Jet service packs, Office service packs, Windows service packs, etc
etc ...

Tony Toews has a version checker on his site you can use to verify these
items:

Hello Paolo,

Just a quick question. Did you update the Access front end recently?
Perhaps you have already done this, but make sure that the field names
in your forms are named differently from the soure for the fields.
Example: FieldName = txtTodaysDate / Source = TodaysDate.
If the field names on the form are not named differently, a problem can
persist especially if a field is a concantenation of several fields with
the source "TodaysDate" included.

Just a thought.

Regards,

Ray

Just in case one of these other ideas isnt the solution you might also
look to determine that a bound form isnt asking for data from a qry or
tbl that it is not bound to, this will create the same issue where the
fields are filled with NAME?
