Default Characters modified when exporting to dbase - 08-02-2003 , 11:03 PM

When I copy a table from Access 2000 to a dbase 5.0 file, either by
using the Export menu command or by calling the TransferDatabase
method, certain characters above 127 are strangly converted.

In particular, the trademark symbol consisting of the letter R inside
a circle is converted to a lower-case letter "r". Also, the copyright
symbol is converted to the letter "c". An upper-case "A" with an
accent is converted to a plain upper-case "A". There is no arithmetic
pattern to this. In other words, it cannot be achieved by simple
masking.

How can I export to dbase 5.0 tables without these conversions? These
conversions do not take place when exporting to comma-delimited files.
