Default Access Database - 05-09-2005 , 02:25 PM

If I have a DB that I created in Access 2000 and my friend only has Access97
on her computer will she be able to somehow open the DB I created?

Jim:
Under Tools/database there is a convert database option.
This can convert a 2k db to a '97 db.

But there is a caveat. If the db has custom code in it you may have a
problem.
'97 used a model called DAO. 2k and beyond can use DAO, but also have
ADO which is considered preferable. If there is ADO code in your DB
you will not be able to use it in '97.

Try the convert and see what happens.

Good luck

Either with the free runtime he will be able, or if you save your database
in 97 format and send it to him like that.
