Default Access 2000 & 97 compatibility - 12-09-2003 , 10:46 AM

We have a database with Access 97 as the front-end and SQL7 as the
back end. It is on a network server and accessed by joining a MS
Access Workgroup.

We are trying to add a new user and have purchased Access 2000 for
their computer. We are now being told that they will not be able to
view, or make entries, queries because Access 2000 is not compatible
with Access 97 and the workgroup will not allow two versions of Access
to be utilized. Before we go and install this (Access 2000) at this
remote location (its a 2 nhour drive just for us to get there---don't
want to waste our time) is it true that Access 2000 can not read
Access 97 dbs and is the problem associated with the MS workgroups?
Is there a workaround----or do we have to get another license for
Access 97? Thanks - Pat
